Italian is at the heart of western civilization. Home to 45 UNESCO sites, Italy is also an economic world power. An important heritage language for many Americans, the study of Italian opens students to a rich cultural world. The study of Italian is essential for the study of other fields, such as history, literature, music, art, business, economics, political science, and literature.
