Here are a few highlights of the conference:
- Ottoson French teacher Anne Zachary presented a 75-minute session, entitled "Art as a Means to Cultural and Linguistic Learning"
- Ottoson Mandarin teacher Na Lu-Hogan led a 3-hour workshop for Chinese teachers, entitled "Integrate Engaging Activities to Advance Mandarin Chinese Proficiency"
- Ottoson Mandarin teacher Na Lu-Hogan and World Language Director Catherine Ritz collaborated on a 75-minute session, entitled "The Proficiency Cohort: Making Shift Happen"
- World Language Director Catherine Ritz presented a 75-minute session, entitled "Assessing Performance: Moving from Chapter Tests to Authentic Assessments"
For the past few years, the World Language department has been well-represented at this conference, with a strong turnout of presenters, attendees, and award-winners. Additionally, World Language Director Catherine Ritz is currently serving as the President of MaFLA.
